WGS Systems, LLC, is looking for a dynamic and self-motivated and degreed engineer that will analyze,
design, develop and support products and systems focusing primarily on wireless communications and
related applications for United States government, commercial, and international customers.
Candidates are expected to have the equivalent of 7+ years of related work experience.

The qualified candidate must be capable of supporting engineering tasks for communications
performance analysis and systems design and specification. The candidate must demonstrate an
understanding in the use of various software tools supporting various functions including antenna
design and analysis, communications link analysis and link visualization, and RF systems analysis
including RF cascade and design. Design experience of RF circuitry and subsystems is also highly
desirable.

Desired experience should include one or more of the following areas:

  • Knowledge / Experience in one or more of the following technical areas:
    • Complex RF link analysis including air-to-air, air-to-ground, and satellite communications
      and networks using various link estimation models.
    • Space and stratospheric propagation and link analysis.
    • Basic design and analysis communications systems addressing modeling, link analysis
      polarization effects, diversity, beamforming, and other complex concepts
    • Antenna design and analysis leveraging electromagnetic codes and software (NEC
      variants, CST Studio, Matlab, others)
    • EMI/EMC testing of systems for both communications system troubleshooting and
      standards compliance
    • RF circuit design and analysis to include filtering, amplification, switching, and RF
      cascade
    • Direct experience in distributed wireless networking using MANET/mesh, LTE, and other
      formats
    • RF communications systems licensing, both commercial and government related
    • Familiarity with commercial production processes
  • Understanding of system engineering processes and concepts
  • Communications system integration, troubleshooting, and testing
  • Verification and validation of products to applicable standards and customer requirements

The responsibilities for this position will include:

  • Lead engineer for RF communications related work for performance optimization, system
    performance prediction, and design activities
  • Supporting system design and integration into airborne, ground, mobile and fixed-site
    applications
  • Supporting system integration and test activities
  • Performance of RF hardware designs to include parts selection, assembly drawings, and bills of
    materials, as needed

Qualified candidates must have:

  • BS in electrical or another engineering discipline, or equivalent work experience
  • United States of America citizenship is required
  • Current secret clearance, or ability to acquire a U.S. Department of Defense security clearance
  • Demonstrable written and verbal communications skills
  • Use of engineering tools such as Matlab, NEC, Visio, Excel, or equivalent
  • Ability to work independently, and within an engineering team of varying disciplines

Work environment:

  • Work will be performed in an office environment, with potential work in hangars and on-board
    aircraft in support of WGS programs, with some work being performed remotely
  • Testing may require the candidate to fly on government or customer owned and operated
    aircraft
  • A majority of the work will be performed in Frederick, Maryland, with work in other locations in
    the greater Baltimore, Maryland/Washington, D.C. as required
  • Occasional travel will be required
