WGS Systems, LLC, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Software Engineer with a strong background in Digital Signal Processing (DSP) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have at least ten years of experience developing software for RF and communications systems and possess deep expertise in signal analysis, algorithm implementation, and high-performance software design. This position requires an active Top Secret clearance and SCI eligibility, with work potentially supporting national security missions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and optimize software applications for real-time and post-processing DSP systems.
- Implement and refine DSP algorithms, including filtering, demodulation, signal detection, and decoding.
- Support integration of software into larger electronic warfare, communications, or intelligence system architectures.
- Analyze RF signals and datasets to extract relevant parameters and inform algorithm design.
- Work closely with hardware engineers, systems engineers, and testers to ensure system-level performance.
- Write and maintain technical documentation, including software design descriptions, test plans, and user guides.
- Mentor junior engineers and support peer code reviews.
- Contribute to proposals, white papers, and technical presentations as a subject matter expert.
- Support classified programs in secure facilities; follow applicable security protocols.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field (Master’s or PhD preferred).
- 10+ years of professional software development experience, including recent work on DSP-focused systems.
- Proficiency in C/C++, Python, or similar languages for signal processing and system development.
- Expertise in DSP concepts such as FFTs, filtering, modulation/demodulation, beamforming, time/frequency analysis.
- Familiarity with SDR platforms (e.g., GNU Radio, Ettus/USRP, REDHAWK, etc.) and RF front-end hardware.
- Experience with real-time or embedded system development.
- Active U.S. Government Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility (polygraph a plus).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with SIGINT, COMINT, or ELINT systems.
- Familiarity with MATLAB, Simulink, or equivalent modeling tools.
- Knowledge of DoD acquisition lifecycle or experience supporting defense programs.
- Exposure to FPGAs or GPU-based processing environments.
Work environment:
- Work will be performed in an office environment, in aircraft hangars, and on-board aircraft
- Testing may require the candidate to fly on government owned and operated aircraft
- A majority of the work will be performed in Frederick, Maryland, with work in other locations in the greater Baltimore, Maryland/Washington, D.C. as required
- Occasional travel will be required
