WGS Systems, LLC, is looking for a dynamic and self-motivated Systems Engineer with a background in
systems development with desired experience reconnaissance and surveillance sensor systems on
airborne, ground, and mobile platforms for United States government and international customers.
The qualified candidate must be capable of performing system definition, decomposition, design,
integration, verification and validation of complete systems. The candidate must also be capable of
performing methodical troubleshooting of complex sensor and related systems such as: networked
computer subsystems, airborne data links, imagery sensors (electro-optical and infrared), ground
moving target and synthetic aperture radars, radio signal collection systems, and other special sensor
technologies. A well-rounded understanding of software, hardware and mechanical engineering is
essential.

The candidate must have experience in the following areas:

  • Systems development for one or more of the following:
    • Sensors, such as radar, cameras, SIGINT, or others
    • Weapons systems
    • RF and radio communications
    • Systems integration onto collection platforms
  • Requirements development and management
  • System design and interface control
  • Compliance standards including military and avionics
  • Performance simulation and modeling
  • Integration, troubleshooting, and system testing
  • Verification and validation of systems to customer requirements

The responsibilities for this position will include:

  • Development of system requirements from customer SOW and contract CDRLs
  • System design and integration onto airborne, ground and mobile platforms
  • Oversight and management of system integration and test activities
  • Development of test plans, specifications, and other related system engineering documents
  • Interfacing with program management, customers, and customer representatives
  • Developing and presenting requirements, designs, plans, and results to customers and end-users
  • Supporting troubleshooting and maintenance planning for fielded systems

Qualified candidates must have:

  • BS/MS in electrical, mechanical, or computer engineering; mathematics, or physics, or
    equivalent work experience
  • United States of America citizenship
  • Current secret clearance or higher, or ability to acquire a U.S. Department of Defense security
    clearance
  • 6+ years of direct experience in system engineering and development, 3+ years’ experience with
    airborne systems desired
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Use of design tools such as Visio, AutoCAD, or equivalent
  • Proficiency in MATLAB and/or SysML is preferred
  • Ability to work independently, and also within an engineering team of varying disciplines
  • INCOSE certification a plus

Work environment:

  • Work will be performed in an office environment, in aircraft hangars, and on-board aircraft
  • Testing may require the candidate to fly on government owned and operated aircraft
  • A majority of the work will be performed in Frederick, Maryland, with work in other locations in
    the greater Baltimore, Maryland/Washington, D.C. as required
  • Occasional travel will be required
