WGS Systems, LLC, is looking for a dynamic and motivated Engineering Manager to join our team and lead various projects across several teams to help create processes and execute strategies to ensure projects are developed in a timely manner.

This position is primarily responsible for leading a multi-discipline engineering team to successfully execute mission critical programs in the communications and defense aerospace industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Successful execution of programs within WGS’ AS9100 approved systems
  • Build teamswith required skill setsand experience
  • Perform resource and hiring planning to ensure programs are properly staffed
  • Work closely with Program Management to ensure resources and plans support program milestones and goals
  • Provide clear and concise instructions to engineering teams
  • Plan, lead and execute programs within WGS’ Jira framework
  • Create reports to give updates on projects
  • Lead research and development projects that produce new designs and products
  • Led team to ensure solutions meet program requirements
  • Coordinate work with other managers and staff
  • Determine the need for training and talent development

Requirements and skills:

  • 10+years of experience working in engineering, with at least 5years in defense electronics system development
  • 3+ years managing technical teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Thorough understanding of:
    • engineering theory
    • design criteria
    • applied math and physics
  • Skilled in:
    • interpersonal communications and customer interactions
    • organization and attention to detail
    • time management with a proven ability to meet deadlines
    • analytical and problem-solving
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate
  • Familiar with AS9100
  • Jira experience desirable

Work Environment:

  • A mix of in-office and remote work is expected with some periodic work conducted in aircraft hangars and onboard aircraft.
  • Testing may require the candidate to fly on government-owned and operated aircraft
  • Most of the work will be performed in Frederick, Maryland, with work in other locations in greater Baltimore, Maryland/Washington, D.C., Virginia as required
  • Occasional travel away from the above area will be required
